Opening of Schools Customer Service Questions

DPSCD Families,

We are looking forward to welcoming your children back to school this Monday! We have worked hard over the summer to make sure every student walks in on day one feeling supported to learn. As you can continue to prepare for the first day, please know that staff is here to help.  If you need support to enroll your child or have any first day of school questions, then you can reach us in the following ways:

  1. Call your child's school directly: Staff at school sites are ready to answer your questions and walk you through the process, and they will know the answers to specific questions you have about the school.
  2. Give our Call Center a call at 313-240-4377: Our team is available from 7am-5pm daily to answer any questions you have.
  3. Chat with us online at detroitk12.org/contact: This resource allows you to chat with a Chatbot or submit questions directly to Central Office staff.

If you prefer to talk in person, then our pop-up enrollment centers are open Thursdays and Fridays from 9am-8pm and Saturdays from 10am-4pm now through September 26, at three locations across the city:

  • Denby High School — 12800 Kelly Rd, Detroit, MI 48224
  • Western International High School — 1500 Scotten St, Detroit, MI 48209
  • FACE Office — 16164 Asbury Park, Detroit, MI 48235 (Enter through Door 6)

If you are coming in person and need to enroll your student, then please be sure to bring:

  • Parent/Guardian photo ID
  • Student's birth certificate or birth record
  • Student's immunization record or waiver
  • Student's most recent transcript or report cards
  • Two forms of proof of address
  • If your child has an IEP or 504 plan, please bring a copy along
